DAY FIVE – “Room for Reward”

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6

We live such distracted lives, don’t we?
How much can you effectively accomplish when your attention is divided several ways?
Not much?

So, it makes sense that whenever there is something significant to accomplish you close your office door our turn off your phone or tell your secretary to hold your calls or whatever it takes to tune your focus on the matter at hand.

Name things more important than prayer.
That DEFINITELY requires focus and even then, it will be a very short list!

So, it shouldn’t surprise use that Jesus gives these precise steps for rewarding prayer:
  1. Go into your room
  2. Close the door
  3. Pray to your Father
  4. He will see (hear) you
  5. He will reward you

Doesn’t that sound like a simple way to make prayer more rewarding? If your prayer is not rewarding, this may be the answer!

“So, Pastor Brad, what is the reward? Are you saying He will answer all my prayers?” Well, He does answer every prayer! He answers with a “yes” or a “no” or a “not now”. But it is better than that!

The reward of private, undistracted prayer is His PRESENCE! You get to spend focused time alone with God! That alone will solve many of your problems and meet most of your needs!

  1. Do I have a special place set aside for prayer?
  2. If not, why not?
  3. What room or area will I set aside especially for prayer?

Heavenly Father, thank you that I can get alone with you and pray! Help me set aside time and a place every day so I can pray in private! In Jesus Name, Amen.
