Prayer & Fasting - Day 15

Twenty-One Days of Prayer
Devotions for Families

DAY FIFTEEN – “Trust for the Crust”
“Give us today our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11

This portion of the prayer, just six words, I reduced to the phrase “trust for the crust” not just because it is catchy but because it does capture the essence of this request. To be more specific, it has more to do with the trust part than it does about the crust part. Over the next few days I want to share three areas where God wants us to trust Him:

Trust God for Your Supply
Trust God for Your Sustenance
Trust God for Your Satisfaction

It says all that?
Yes! All that and probably more!
Not only is this meant to be a pattern for prayer but a pattern for praise! This petition is not just an “ask” but it is an affirmation!

So, today as you pray and before you ask God to supply your needs, first affirm that your Heavenly Father Who knows what you need even before your ask WILL supply you with what you need today! This prayer is a “thank you” before it is a “please”!

It is interesting to note the Greek phrase employed here refers to a traveler who depends on someone other than himself for his daily survival.
What profound spiritual implications for you today!

Your spiritual relationship is a daily journey, a walk, it is not a destination. Your Heavenly Father wants you to learn to focus on each day and trust Him along the way! Concentrate on each step on the journey and you won’t be overcome by fear or anxiety!

When you pray today, pray about today! Begin your prayer by affirming your Heavenly Father is walking with you each step of your way TODAY! Tell Him you will trust Him for all that you need today!

Make your journey with Jesus joyful today!

Am I afflicted with “destination disease” or do I have a daily focus?
Do I tend to forget to invite Jesus along on my journey?
What will it mean for me to “trust for my crust” today?

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the journey of life! I thank you for placing me on the right path! I invite you to walk with me today! Guide me today! Provide for me today! Help me enjoy the journey with you today! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
